Apple Aligns Products With Podcasting

The newest version of iTunes, 4.9, brings some ease-of-use features to those new to discovering podcasts.
Think of podcasting as radio for the masses, delivered in a way that makes programs portable and available at a user's schedule, not a radio station's.
The process to find, subscribe, and listen to podcasts became a bit easier for users of iTunes software from Apple. The company has provided a Podcast directory, available to those who upgrade iTunes to version 4.9.
Podcasts can be managed like other audio within iTunes, and once a user subscribes to a podcast, iTunes will automatically synchronize it as updates become available.
Apple has made about 3,000 podcasts available online, and more will be added as other podcasters submit their podcasts for consideration. All of the podcasts are free.
For Mac users, Apple has begun touting GarageBand as well-suited to creating podcasts for submission to iTunes. Apple has helpfully provided more general information on podcasting, including a sample podcast recipe, at that link.
Apple will review podcasts to block pornography and ensure users aren't violating copyrights by uploading full-length unlicensed songs. However, Steve Jobs says Apple has agreements with music companies that will allow users to place 30 second clips in their podcasts, according to the Wall Street Journal.
