Apple Introduces Mac Mini, IPod Shuffle
At the MacWorld conference in San Francisco, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced new products for the Apple family that has left Mac supporters salivating.

As reported earlier by WebProNews, Jobs has fought extremely hard to keep leaks of Apple's new product line to a minimum, going as far as to sue web sites that mentioned these products. Among Apple's new toys are the Mac Mini, an affordable Mac computer that starts at $499; and the iPod Shuffle; an even smaller version of the ultra-successful iPod.

Microsoft Previews Valuable Tools for Office for Mac Customers

Inspired by user input and requests, Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit (Mac BU) today unveiled four new enhancements to help users of Office 2004 for Mac work even smarter: the .PST Import Tool to migrate data from Outlook(R) 2001 for Mac to Entourage(R) 2004; updates to Entourage 2004 and the next version of MSN(R) Messenger for Mac that will make collaboration in the enterprise even easier; and fresh Office tools and templates for greater efficiency.

Steve Jobs will be the star attraction when the Macworld Conference and Expo opens to the public Tuesday, but many Mac fans might be just as interested in hearing from one of the original Mac's creators.

Andy Hertzfeld will be signing copies of his book, "Revolution in the Valley: The Insanely Great Story of How the Mac was Made" on the conference floor. Actually, the book's title is a bit misleading--rather than a story, its a collection of dozens of short stories that provide a unique behind-the-scenes look at the birth of the Mac.

Cisco Systems Chooses Mac OS X, Xserve, Xserve RAID and Xsan
Cisco Systems, the world's largest networking equipment manufacturer, chose Apple's Mac OS X, Xserve, Xserve RAID, and Xsan networking software for an e-mail archival system.

Digital Strata, an Agile-IT development firm in the Enterprise space, implemented the system for Cisco Xsan is a DIY (Do It Yourself) grid software tool for putting together Mac OS X-based networks using Xserve and Xserve RAID. The system also used Cisco's MDS 900 Series SAN Switches.
